Customer Engagement Strategies, 3 Points You Cannot Ignore

Sometimes in the everyday struggles of that fast paced world we call marketing, it can be easy to lose sight of what is really important. When dealing day in day out with stats and data, customers can easily be reduced to numbers on a screen, rather than being those awesome people that keep you in business. So let’s take a minute and check that we are doing the optimal amount to engage with these wonderful folks.


3 things to consider

1. Happy customers are your life blood

Make sure your customers know how much they mean to you, it’s all about them! Do they feel valued? As customers who feel underappreciated will simply look elsewhere, and there will always be someone else ready to welcome them with open arms.

Can you offer them a personalized experience? Surprise them with an offer? Say thank you for supporting you? Answer their queries as quickly as they would like?  A little love can go a long way.


2. Use great content to deliver value to your customers

Imagine you are on a dating site, looking to connect with someone special. There is a lot of choice out there, so who are you going to look for in a match? Is it the one who can't remember your name, contacts you only when they want something, and goes on endlessly about themselves?

Or are you going to be the actively one tries to woo you? Takes the time to get to know you, remembers your birthday, sends you things they think you might like, and makes you feel special…


You can only create engaging content if you are listening to your audience, if you are actively pursuing their interests, not just yours. This is why they will stay loyal to you and keep coming back for more. And loyal customers are 5x as likely to repurchase, 5x as likely to forgive, 7x as likely to try a new offering, and 4x as likely to refer (source).

3. Humanise your brand

Let’s be honest here, people don’t want to follow a ideology created by a marketing team in an office somewhere, it’s not relatable. They want to connect with real, authentic, human beings.

Look at your content and your philosophy. Do you sound like a real person or are you alienating your customers with jargon and overused phrases? Do you engage with them like a real person?

The brands at the top of their game tend to have very clear and consistent personalities whether is is funny, wholesome, supportive or progressive, they speak directly to the customers. They always grow and develop with their customers in mind.
